Transporting Firearms and Ammunition

Writer: VSSA AdminVSSA Admin

You have probably seen news stories about people being stopped at TSA security checkpoints because they had a firearm in their carry-on bag.  A gun owner should be aware of where your firearms are at all times. According to USA Carry, as of October 2021, they’ve found 27 firearms this year, including five guns that were found over six days in a recent week.  They would have you believe this is an "epidemic," even to the point that they are recommending that concealed carry permits be revoked for those found with a firearm at airport security checkpoints.  You may transport unloaded firearms when traveling by air, but you must follow specific procedures.

You can find out more about airline travel with firearms by clicking here, or by checking directly with the airline on which you will travel.
