Before Renewing Memberships Online, Request First Time Login Information on New VSSA Web Site
On May 16th, an upgraded version of the VSSA web site went online. The redesign was necessary because Google uses mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal in search results, rewarding websites that are fully optimized for mobile platforms. VSSA's old web site did not meet this requirement. These changes make it easier for the VSSA website to be included in more searches when people are looking for Virginia gun rights and shooting sports information, and allow the VSSA web site to be accessed easily whether it is being used on a desktop PC, tablet, or smartphone. The upgrade was made possible through a generous grant from the NRA.
Login information and email address information from the old site was not transferred to the new site. This is due to the number of spam logins that were created on that site because logins were tied to email addresses. Because of the inability to transfer login information, new logins must be created. All members can create a login and should do so to either renew (annual and three-year members), donate to the War Chest (all members) or register for the annual Crush'n Clays fundraiser (all members). You must also login to renew online. And, having logged in on the old web site does not count has having previously logged in. If you have never logged in on the new web site, this is your first time logging in.
Your member number is your username but you will need a temporary password to set up your login, and you can only get that by completing the following steps. Go to https://www.myvssa.org/user, and choose the option that states "If this is your first time logging in and have forgotten your Username and Password or are having trouble logging in, click here to request assistance," complete the form and a request will be sent through the web site to generate a temporary password. You will not received an automatically generated response but you will receive the information within 24 hours.
Only VSSA members can create a login account and it is necessary to renew memberships online. Members and non members can access all other information on the website without logging in.
VSSA hopes this new web site will make it easier to renew your membership as it can now be done on a PC, Android Tablet, IPad, or smartphone.
